Some
of the creative ways Churches and Parenting groups have successfully
used the Art of Opportunity Parenting video course:
LUNCH TIME CURRICULUM: Several Churches and Companies pop a
video in during lunchtime for anyone to watch and have a few laughs
and learn some great parenting skills at the same time.
SINGLE PARENTS NIGHT: Single parents are doing the job of two
and need all the encouragement and hope they can get. Why not open
your church on a Thursday evening, invite single parents, have your
teens offer free babysitting (a super opportunity for volunteering)
and snacks, and go through Opportunity Parenting with them. One video
each week will take only 9 weeks and you will be investing in a parents
life where it is needed most.
ONE ON ONE DISCIPLING WITH THE PARENTING VIDEOS: Do you have
parents who are new in their faith and could also use some parenting
survival tips? Why not get together once a week, (at the church or
at your home) and have a one on one time (men with men and women with
women) and watch a video each week. There will be countless opportunities
for discussion about the role our faith in God and parenting go hand
in hand. Advertise in your church bulletin for people interested in
needing the help and for those that feel called to disciple.
NEW COUPLES CLASS: Many people don't know that these videos
are a must for new couples before they have children. In classes all
over the country we hear parents tell us. "I wish I would have
had these skills before I had children. I would have made fewer mistakes
and would have been caught off guard less." Encourage couples
without children as well as parents of small children or infants to
take the class. It will give them Godly insights on their parenting
style ahead of time before being blindsided by needs that seem impossible
to meet when you are unprepared.
OUTREACH FOR UN-CHURCHED PARENTS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Bill
Sanders style of speaking is so 'real' and 'down to earth' that everyone
feels comfortable listening to him, especially non churched parents
who might feel threatened in a church setting. Put out flyers in the
neighborhoods nearest the church inviting parents for a "FREE
PARENTING SERIES". What a wonderful and creative way to meet
the needs of people nearest you who have no church home and only think
of Christians as judging or wanting their money. Many churches are
finding that after the video sessions are over many parents start
coming to the church on Sunday mornings because they see it as a friendly
and safe place.
